With The Whale, Ströer has set a new milestone for digital out-of-home advertising at Hamburg Central Station. The LED installation, produced by Daktronics, spans an impressive 38 m in width and 9 m in height—a total of 342 m² of high- of high-performance full-motion and 3D-capable LED technology. With over 500,000 visitors daily, The Whale is considered Germany’s DOOH touchpoint with the widest reach and sets new standards for immersive brand presentations. To ensure the long-term, safe, and trouble-free operation of this extraordinary screen, nearly 400 AMFEN units from JOB were installed. These provide integrated fire protection and enhance safety—which is particularly important at one of Europe’s busiest transportation hubs.

To prevent operational failures, the company focused on protecting electrical components. In late 2023, intelligent mini fire extinguishers were installed in nine electrical systems in cooperation with Wichmann to suppress incipient fires directly at their source.
The Berlin-based start-up Rechargy uses an innovative business model that involves renting out power banks and setting up “Power Banks To Go” stations. The Rechargy stations are located in public areas and are therefore subject to strict fire safety and security requirements. Thanks to AMFE, the charging and power electronics areas are reliably protected.
