GERMAN TRAVEL GROUP RELIES ON DEVICE-INTEGRATED FIRE PROTECTION
The FTI Group is a German travel group headquartered in Munich and the third-largest tour operator in Europe. It employs 11,000 people worldwide and sends up to six million people on vacation every year. A big responsibility, especially when it comes to safety. In order to be able to guarantee the uninterrupted distribution of package and module tours at all times, the electrical systems and controls in the control center must be fail-safe and operationally reliable. Preventive fire protection plays an important role here. With 40 control cabinets at the Munich site alone, a fire protection solution had to be found that would function networked, simultaneously and absolutely reliably. FTI Touristik GmbH therefore worked with a JOB sales partner, Meister Automation GmbH (www.amfe.de), and opted for the Automatic Miniature Fire Extinguishing Unit AMFE.

40 mini fire extinguishing units (cylinder with thermo bulb) have been integrated into the control cabinets and automatically trigger an extinguishing process when a defined temperature in the unit is exceeded (sprinkler principle); at the same time, they send a signal to the higher-level fire alarm system. The aim is to fight incipient fires quickly and without leaving any residue – they are detected early and extinguished before they can spread. “We decided to use the mini fire extinguishers to protect our employees and provide our customers with a reliable service,” says Michael von Bibow, Head of Facility Management & Administration at FTI Touristik GmbH. In the event of a fire, damage is limited to the equipment and far-reaching business interruptions can be avoided.

The Berlin-based start-up Rechargy uses an innovative business model that involves renting out power banks and setting up “Power Banks To Go” stations. The Rechargy stations are located in public areas and are therefore subject to strict fire safety and security requirements. Thanks to AMFE, the charging and power electronics areas are reliably protected.
Small extinguishing system protects EWM technology centre
EWM GmbH, a leading welding technology supplier, maintains high quality standards backed by advanced testing and safety systems. To prevent operational failures, the company focused on protecting electrical components. In late 2023, intelligent mini fire extinguishers were installed in nine electrical systems in cooperation with Wichmann to suppress incipient fires directly at their source.
