automatic miniature fire extinguishing unit
AMFE – the automatic mini fire extinguishing unit from JOB in Ahrensburg offers innovative safety for sensitive areas. Developed by the world-leading JOB Group, this compact system reliably protects electrical devices and systems from fire hazards. Thanks to its space-saving design, the AMFE can be integrated directly into control cabinets, snack vending machines or other machines. In the event of overheating or fire, the AMFE detects the danger at an early stage and extinguishes the fire immediately – directly at the source. This not only prevents extensive property damage, but also increases operational safety in industry, commerce and the home.
Device-integrated fire protection refers to the direct installation of fire protection systems in electrical or electronic devices, machines and systems. In contrast to conventional extinguishing systems, which monitor entire rooms, device-integrated fire protection acts directly where the fire hazard arises – inside the device. This means that a fire is detected at an early stage and extinguished directly at the source before it can spread. This preventive approach plays a crucial role, especially in times of increasing electrification, digitalisation and miniaturisation. Device-integrated fire protection not only protects valuable technology such as servers, control systems and household appliances, but also increases safety for people and reduces downtime in industry and commerce. Companies benefit from this solution because it prevents fire damage, production downtime and high follow-up costs. With innovative systems such as the automatic mini fire extinguishing unit (AMFE) from Ahrensburg, the industry is focusing on a sustainable and future-proof form of fire protection.

EWM GmbH, a leading supplier of welding technology, pursues high quality standards and a comprehensive quality promise. Every product labelled with the company logo should offer the highest quality and durability. This promise is based on a sophisticated quality management system with state-of-the-art testing and safety technology. To avoid operational failures, EWM focussed on the protection of electrical components. At the end of 2023, in collaboration with fire protection experts from Wichmann, intelligent mini fire extinguishers were installed in nine electrical systems to fight incipient fires directly at the point of origin.

Device-integrated fire protection as an important component for greater resilience
The modern world is characterised by increasing complexity and a wide variety of challenges. The protection of critical infrastructure – KRITIS for short – is therefore a top priority.
Technology approved in accordance with the VdS 6024 guideline allows electrical devices to be installed even in escape and rescue routes in sensitive infrastructure such as airports, railway stations, hospitals and shopping centres. VdS 6024 reconciles digitalisation and fire protection and reduces overall costs. Find out more.

Automatic mini fire extinguishers (AMFE) are compact, automatic fire extinguishing systems that have been specially developed for use in switch cabinets and electrical systems. They provide effective fire protection directly at the source of the fire, extinguishing it as quickly as possible. This reduces the risk of operational interruptions and prevents damage.
The AMFE automatically detects a fire and activates itself independently using sprinkler glass technology that has been proven billions of times over. It releases a non-toxic, non-conductive extinguishing agent that is specially designed for electrical fires to prevent damage, unlike aerosol or foam extinguishing systems.
The AMFE system is ideal for use in electrical control cabinets and machines, but also in media technology and snack vending machines, as well as other electrical devices. It can be used in various industries and is often employed in critical infrastructure.
– Space-saving: Compact design that fits into any control cabinet.
– Automatic activation: 24/7 security. No manual operation required.
– Fast response: Immediate firefighting to minimise damage.
– Safe for electrical equipment: Effective extinguishing agent that leaves no residue.
No, the AMFE requires little maintenance. As a customer, you choose the level of maintenance yourself. This ranges from annual weighing to a simple visual inspection within 5 minutes and can even be fully automated through remote maintenance. The AMFE is easy to install and maintain. No specialist company is required for installation and no expensive maintenance contract is necessary.
For the approved operating conditions, the system is designed for a service life of 10 years.
The AMFE is specially designed for electrical fires (Class E). However, it can extinguish solid materials (Class A).
Lithium ion fires cannot be extinguished with the AMFE.
The AMFE mini fire extinguishing system can be purchased through our global distribution partners or directly from us.
Installing the AMFE is simple and can usually be carried out by an electrician. Detailed installation instructions are included with the product. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
